Reminders Before Departure
The first and most important step in preparing to go abroad is completing the study abroad application. The application process covers the critcal information you will need and steps you will have to take before traveling such as getting your passport, insurance, visa (if applicaple), and more.
Below are few extra steps that are helpful to remember before departing:
Find out if you need to get immunizations/vaccinations. Get a medical check-up. Make sure you have enough prescription medication for your time abroad.
Provide your bank with your travel dates and all country destinations. Have multiple sources of money available (including a credit card). Check if your cards and PIN numbers work abroad.
Make a set of all your documents to take with you as a backup, and leave a set with a trusted family member/friend. Pay outstanding bills. Arrange a cell phone for abroad, cancel subscriptions and have your mail forwarded.
