Summer Session II 2020 (July 8-28)

In this course you will be introduced to the broad scope of German culture and civilization from the earliest times to the present.  This includes consideration of both “high” culture (art, architecture, literature, music, etc.) and the culture of everyday life and customs (shopping, recycling, tipping, etc.).  We will analyze German culture and civilization in their broader historical and European/international context.

We will alternate between broad focus and consideration of specific artifacts and sites. Students will place these latter into meaningful historical, social and geographic context.
