Maureen Deisinger

Maureen Deisinger comes to the Global Education Office from right here at Virginia Tech. As the assistant director for partnerships and affiliations, she will be working with Virginia Tech’s portfolio of student exchange agreements as well as its partnership with the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP). She has primary responsibility for overseeing exchanges and partnership activities, evaluating strengths and weaknesses, and identifying potential for development in existing or new collaborations.
At Virginia Tech, since 2010, she has served as an academic adviser in the Geography department working with geography and meteorology majors. In 2009, Maureen worked with incoming international students and coordinated the International Street Fair through the Virginia Tech’s Cranwell International Center.
For 20 years prior to that, Maureen was a study abroad and academic adviser at Iowa State University. She worked most closely with programs in Australia, New Zealand and Greece and was also involved in academic advising in the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at ISU.
As a native of Kimberly, Wisconsin, Maureen completed a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Wisconsin-Steven’s Point and then a Master’s Degree in Higher Education/Student Services from Iowa State University.
