Partnerships and Agreements

The Global Education Office (GEO) plays an essential role in advancing global partnerships, managing collaborations with 45 international universities. These partnerships open doors for student and faculty exchanges through formalized Student Exchange Agreements (SEAs), foster joint research initiatives, and enable virtual global collaborations, all of which significantly strengthen Virginia Tech's global presence. Furthermore, GEO works closely with Procurement to maintain an active list of university-approved Custom Faculty-Led Program providers, offering a variety of support services for study abroad programming.

A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is required before initiating a Student Exchange Agreement, though the MOU and SEA can be developed concurrently. Tammy Roethlisberger (troeth868@vt.edu), Immigration Program Coordinator in Global Strategic Services, provides guidance on MOUs, while the Global Education Office manages SEAs. For more details about creating a new Virginia Tech Exchange collaboration, please contact GEO’s Assistant Director for Partnerships and Affiliations at vtexchange@vt.edu.
To establish a business relationship with VT, study abroad program providers must be approved via the Procurement's Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
