Do I need to live in the dorms?
No, you can live off campus if you don't want to live in the dorms.
Why would I choose a dorm?
Location, location, location! Also, previous students have said they are more fun and a great way to meet people and stay up to date on campus activities.
Are the dorm rooms nice?
It depends on the dorm. Some are newer than others, but they are all in a great location on campus.
Are the dorm rooms clean?
The cleanliness of your room depends on you! All bathroom and dorm facilities like common spaces are cleaned by cleaning staff.
Will I have a shared room if I live in the dorm?
Yes, it's common to have a roommate if living in the dorms.
What if I don’t like my roommate?
Try to resolve any differences you my have. It’s difficult to make changes once you have singed the housing contract.
Do I need to get a meal plan if I am living on campus
Yes, you must. There are three options to choose from and they range from $2,600 to $3,000.
Do I need to get a meal plan if I am living off campus?
No, the meal plan is necessary only for those living on campus. If living off campus, it is not needed, however there is a meal plan available only for off campus students called minor flex plan.
How do I get football or any sports tickets?
All sport tickets for students are free. Some sports are easier to get than others. For football there is a lottery system that opens a week before each game where you can sign-up. For other sports, you sign up the same way, but it’s less competitive and you can usually get tickets.
Can I join any clubs or sports while at VT?
Of course! It's recommended to join as many clubs or sports as your schedule allows you to.
Can I join varsity sports?
No. You will not be able to.
As an exchange student, can I use the VT gym?
Absolutely! There are no extra fees, unless you want to do specialty classes like spin or full body workout.
